GOOD QUESTIONSBefore you change PNG to SVG.
Is the output a real vector or an embedded image?
It contains SVG path elements, not an image element or embedded PNG data. You can inspect and copy the source. The paths describe the sampled outlines; they do not recover the original designer's curves.
Will my PNG look exactly the same?
Not necessarily. Fewer colors and a smaller tracing resolution remove detail. Logos and flat icons work best. Photographs, gradients, tiny lettering and soft shadows can change substantially; compare the previews before downloading.
Can I convert PNG to SVG without uploading it?
Yes. Decoding, palette reduction and tracing run in your browser. This tool makes no network requests for conversion and has no conversion API.
Can I edit the SVG afterward?
Yes. Open the file in an SVG-capable vector editor to edit the filled paths. Text in your PNG becomes shapes, not editable text. The output uses a viewBox and retains the source dimensions.
Do I need to install a converter app?
No installation is needed. This page handles single-image conversion: choose a PNG, inspect the traced vector, then download the SVG or copy its source code. No account is required.
Why is the SVG sometimes larger than the PNG?
Many small color regions require many path commands. Vector files are not automatically smaller. Reduce the color budget or tracing resolution, or keep the PNG when the vector does not improve your use case.
Can I use this on my phone?
Yes, in a browser with image decoding, Canvas and Blob downloads. Choose an image using the file picker. Copying may use your clipboard permission; the source box also supports manual selection. Large or complex images may exceed your phone's memory.
